The Girl
Who Cried Thief
Once
upon a time there was a teenage girl who was sitting on a bus stop, bored, in
New York City.
She called, “Someone’s stealing my purse he’s
getting away!” But when an old man came and tried to find him, the girl just
laughed.
Ten
minutes later the girl said, “Someone’s stealing my purse!”
When the old man came out again the girl just
laughed. Twenty minutes later a large man came and grabbed her purse from her hands and took a run for it.
She called for the man but nobody came.
Finally
a kind woman near her yelled, “Someone’s stealing this young lady’s purse.”
So the old man came out and got the purse from
the man. The teenage girl was crying, “Why didn’t you come when I
called you? He could have stolen my money.”
But
the old man sat down next to the girl
and said, “Nobody believes a liar, even when they’re telling the truth.”
